1986 Porsche 924 Coupe
Reg. no. C133 WLM
Chassis no. WPOZZ92ZGN402884W
Engine no. 43G09951
Launched in 1976 to replace the 914, the Porsche 924 was something of a break with tradition for the Stuttgart company, as it was both front-engined and water-cooled. Designed by Harm Lagaay – later responsible for the ahead-of-its-time BMW Z1 it was very much in keeping with the design fashions of the mid-70s, with its wedge shape and the obligatory pop-up headlights. For 1986 an updated version, the 924S, was introduced, the 2.5 litre engine being boosted to 150bhp, giving the car much improved performance to go with its widely-praised appearance, reliability, handling and economy. Production ended in 1988, after an extremely successful production run of just under 150,000 cars. Always popular due to the aforementioned qualities, it remains a prime example of a modern classic.
This 1986 924S is in very good condition; a desirable S model with the more powerful engine, and a 5-speed manual gearbox, it has had five owners from new and comes with full history, bills and all manuals. The MOT extends to September 2018 and there is a V5c.
This and 75 other cars will be sold by auction on October 28th at Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ
