1969 Morris Minor 1000 Saloon
Reg. no. KPR 131G
Chassis no. M/A255D-1229637M
Engine no. 10MAUH333559
Launched in 1948, production of the Morris Minor was initially heavily weighted in favour of export markets, with British car makers of the ‘export or die’ post-war years desperate for foreign currency. The design, by Alec Issigonis, was the first example of his philosophy of increasing interior space while decreasing exterior dimensions and improving roadholding. It was an advanced design for its time, featuring independent front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and it was also due to have a flat-four engine, rumoured to have been developed with Jowett, experts in the flat engine arena. Unfortunately this was dropped in favour of the pre-war 918 cc side-valve engine for cost reasons, hampering the car in export markets where the VW Beetle soon took the place the Minor could have occupied. Despite this, it was a great success on the home market, and was greatly improved by the introduction of the Austin A-series engines in 1952.
Still a common sight on our roads, the Minor is a classic that can still be used every day, with a great support and parts supply network and an array of upgrades available. This car has never been restored and it still retains much of its original paint. This three owner car has a warranted 34,000 miles and it has never been welded. The interior is all original and still very useable. Last on the road in 1990, this Morris has been fully recommissioned with all brake pipes being replaced, new tyres fitted, new hoses, a new water pump, a new sender unit and an SU petrol pump also fitted. It is now offered with an owner's workshop manual, a current MOT that expires in September 2018 and a V5c.
This and 75 other cars will be sold by auction on October 28th at Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ
This is a fabulous original car, a genuine Lowlight with just 60,800 miles recorded, with its past owner for over 30 years, still in its original colour and retaining its original upholstery and registration.....
