Originally built between 15th-21st May 1964, this example is a extremely rare and desirable 3000 MKIII BJ8 Phase One of which just 1,000 examples were built (as opposed to over 16,000 Phase Two cars). These models are coveted for launching the new ‘De-Luxe’ interior as seen on the later cars but whilst retaining single front sidelights and slimmer rear lights.
Finished in Healey Blue with Ivory White duotone this car has Blue seating and interior trim, with the seats themselves period comfort buckets similar to those used in the works endurance cars – a good option for long distance comfort, with the condition of the leather and seating all very good. The dashboard is the correct walnut and the interior features a period correct radio a Moto-Lita Mark 3 wheel. The car is provided with full wet weather gear trimmed in the correct Everflex vinyl.
Restored in 2005 by a marque specialist to a high standard this car features very good panel fit throughout and the paint to a very nice standard. The engine, gearbox and drivetrain was fully rebuilt and refurbished. Good photographic documentation of restoration is provided and an excellent paper file accompanies the car detailing restoration and maintenance works.
To this day the car still drives very well, with the operation of the gearbox strong and precise, the engine smooth with good oil pressure and temperature holding and with the car feeling very composed at all speeds.
We have just carried out a very comprehensive service and tune on the car with many new and reconditioned parts. This car is provided serviced with MOT, heritage certificate of authenticity and significant history file.
