Founded by Keith Brading, the Frogeye Car Company based on the Isle of Wight, developed an updated version of the immortal Austin Healey Mk I Sprite (1958-61). Under the guidance of Geoff Healey the fibreglass body was bolted to a galvanised steel tubular chassis. With the first cars being sold as 'restoration assemblies' requiring the front crossmember of the donor to be supplied to the factory that it could be incorporated into the chassis. In addition to the BMC 'A Series' Power Units, later chassis were available to accept Rover K series or Ford CVH units.
This stunning Flame Red example is the 15th chassis and body supplied and was constructed in 1988/89 based upon a 1969 MG Midget. In the present owner's hands for the past 6 years, the car has been regularly maintained by a specialist and is in excellent condition in all respects. Powered by a 1275 Oselli engine, it has a Weber carburettor, electronic ignition, alternator, electric fan, alloy radiator, oil cooler, Maniflow manifold and exhaust. When the exhaust was fitted it was set up on a rolling road and showed 85bhp at the flyweel.
The car has excellent hood, sidescreens and tonneau cover. It has much history, invoices and MoT's. The mileage at the moment is
21836, and was 10405 when acquired 6 years ago.
The current owner has enjoyed participating in classic tours, holidays, and weekend drives covering some 11,000 miles in his tenure.
Interestingly, this car was featured on the front cover of 'Mascot' the magazine of the Midget and Sprite Club some while ago.

This rare and original 948cc mk 2 sprite was restored in 2013/14 after being housed in a garage/ drive for 27 years.
