The MK1 Capri Pre-Facelift is now becoming a rare find in a good condition, like the Mk1 Escort they are increasing in price every year, i'm sure you will agree next year the Mk1 Capri will also be selling for considerably more. Unfortunately due to personal commitments, most important is the storage for this classic that has become a problem so I have now decided to sell.
The car was a barn find that was stored in South Africa for over 7 years. The body is very solid and is very tidy and in good condition.
This car was originally a V6 XL but was converted to a 302 V8, being an automatic before very little alterations where necessary to the engine bay. Since this car arrived in the UK I have done a considerable amount of work to bring it back to most of its originality.
The front- and rear windscreen rubbers have been replaced, supplied by East Kent Auto Trimmers which represents the original.
Fitted original windscreen washers and water bottle. Mounted the operating switch on the left side of the steering column.
Fitted the door glass aluminium strips with new rubbers. When removing the door cards to fit the rubbers I noticed that the inside and bottom of these doors are absolutely rust free.
Managed to find and fitted original front and rear bumpers, unfortunately still struggling to find over-riders for the front bumper.
Had the headlight-surrounds re-chromed, also managed to find the original front grill.
Not everyone’s choice in design but the seats were re-covered to a very high standard.
A small part of the floor pan was slightly pitted, this was removed and repaired by a professional fabricator.
At the same time I replaced the floor strengtheners’ brackets on both sides because they had been used for the purpose of jacking the car over the years.
Fuse box has been upgraded also all electrics have been checked with a Auto Electrical service centre.
All the brakes have been serviced.
The front roll bar and rear tramp rod bushes have been replaced.
All the above work was carried out for a successful MOT.
THE CAR COMES WITH THE FOLLOWING.
One year MOT.
Ford V8 302 Small Block.
5 Speed Gearbox.
High Performance Coil
Electric fuel pump.
13" Cobra Alloy Rims
Two thermo electric cooling fans.
