1966 FORD CORTINA MK1 GT
Engine: Harris Motorsport 1860cc
There were two aims in mind when the restoration of this car was embarked upon.
One was to have a car with dramatic performance but also with low down torque and tractability built in. The second aim was to win best GT at the MK1 Owners Club show. Both these goals have been achieved in spades. It was initially rated at an impressive 142 bhp and has since been further tweaked to bring it up to around 150bhp. It won Best GT three years in a row, was voted for by Alan Mann of Alan Mann Racing one year and was Supreme Champion. As well as showing it the owner at the time also drove the car; averaging three thousand miles a year. Looking at it now its difficult to believe though he does admit to being a bit obsessive; driving daily it then cleaning it daily.
In the file the restoration is documented with stacks of invoice and there is a copy of Classic Ford magazine with this car on the front cover and a 4 page spread inside. The car is very well sorted, it sounds fantastic, goes extremely well and it's very exciting but still manageable.
