HISTORY FILE – Our rare BN7 triple carburetor 2-seater is one of just 355 in total MKII’s built. Incredibly, the car left the BMC Abingdon assembly line in September 1961 and headed to the unlikely destination of Reykjavik, Iceland. Heritage Trust confirms the matching numbers model with the following chassis H-BN7-L/15112 and strange original destination. Subsequently shipped to the United States, where it spends the majority of its years, our car lands in the UK in 2015. A well preserved older restoration it has been subjected to a thorough overhaul both internal and external. One of the last so called ‘true Roadsters’!
EXTERIOR - Heritage indicate the correct Body Number: 13891 which left the factory in Duotone: Healey blue & Ivory White. Painted during the recent restoration, the colour combination is synonymous with Healey alone and is wearing well. One tiny paint chip blemish lets it down – if you can find it! Two additional eyes (fog lights) sit proud behind the front perfect chrome bumper. The minimal all weather equipment is complete with the side screens in super order. The new soft top roof is infamously fiddly to erect, but who on earth would want to drive this with the roof up? Go on, live a little!
INTERIOR – The car benefits from a detailed new interior. Finished in denim blue leather with white piping, it is an absolute perfect match to the cars eye catching exterior. The large, original steering wheel is a pleaser from a time gone by in a relatively Spartan environment. It’s hard to believe that in 1961 these cars were built with an adjustable steering column.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – Engine number 29E-RU-H/1473 (matching numbers) has been treated to a complete overhaul including seals and gaskets. Not forgetting the gearbox during the restoration, number: 13644 received the same treatment with a smooth overdrive result. Continuing the extensive restoration project, the suspension has been rebuild with new road springs; rare triple SU HS4 carburetors have been thoroughly sorted and matched accordingly to a stainless steel exhaust. The car still has the original rear axle number 13715. A very clean detailed engine bay is exactly as you would expect.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – New wire wheels with perfect chrome ‘knock-ons’ have been matched to modern Vredestein tyres offering sure footing. On testing, the brakes pulled up well and straight.
