1971 MGB ROADSTER
This first class restored example is finished in mineral blue with black leather piped in red and is road tax exempt. It was built on 22nd December 1970 and sold new to Henlys of Salisbury in 1971 and ordered with heater, overdrive, tonneau cover, radial ply tyres, wire wheels, chrome bumpers, s/s door mirrors, locking petrol cap, centre console and tinted screen. It has been the subject of a professional bare metal repaint and restoration in 2015 and has recently been fitted with new tyres, new hood, new seat belts and a new stainless steel sports exhaust. It has been well maintained throughout its life with regular maintenance and is in excellent show condition.
Succeeding the MGA, the B range of models were innovative for their era. The lightweight monocoque construction produced a car that was economical for MG to produce, but equally offered performance and style to sports car enthusiasts. The Roadster was the first of the range, manufactured from 1962 until the closure of the Abingdon factory in 1980. With the invaluable support from the excellent MG car club, these sports cars are enjoyable to use and economical to run and maintain.
The history folder includes current V5C without any advisories and previous V5C’s, current and previous MoT’s (from 1990) and related paperwork, MoT folders, registration certificate, old road tax discs, insurance paperwork, a large quantity of invoices totalling circa £9000, warranty documentation, correspondence, images, parts booklet, folders and a full report on this car. The roadster is also certified with a BMI Heritage Trust certificate confirming this is a RHD UK car with all numbers matching and that the current registration number is correct and was supplied new in August 1971.
There are few cars that are as dear to our hearts as the British MGB’s and this exceptionally good Roadster is an excellent example of the Marque. £14995
