| | | | A very unique MG B GT and indeed opportunity. Released from a long term classic car collection and recently fully carburetor serviced and driving lovely.
Year: 1980 Mileage: 483 miles
HISTORY FILE – This car is a unique MG B GT. Chassis number: GVGEJ1AG519506 was despatched from Abbingdon in August 1980 to Lookers Ltd in Rochdale. However, the car was never registered - until recently! The correct DVLA V55/2 registration application form, which was supplied with the car when new, is still present and carries the correct type approval. This has allowed us to now complete the registration using August 1980 as the initial date of registration. The car is now fully registered (in Germany) which will now allow registration anywhere in Europe. It even has the original driver's handbook present along with the Leyland literature and stickers. It's obviously not new, but it is new, with not a single nut, bolt, or grommet having been changed from the moment it left the factory. Unique, in the proper sense of the word and, as we often say, "Find another one".
EXTERIOR – Heritage Trust have authenticated the car by describing the colour on the Certificate as Black with orange and brown trim. Now 38 years on, the exterior is still stunning with plenty of chrome in superb condition to contrast the black exterior. All rubber seals are as they left the factory. Let’s not kid ourselves, the quality of these cars was not great in 1980, and the car has obviously been around for almost 4 decades, so there are a number of small imperfections that have been collected over the decades, so viewing is highly recommended. But the questions still remains, where will you find another one like this?
INTERIOR – As you would expect from a ‘time-warp’ car, the interior is literally ‘like new’! The Leyland safety sticker is still in the windscreen. Upholstered in period orange ‘Deckchair’ it’s obviously not to everyone’s taste but, what we have here is a very unique car still in authentic original condition. Therefore, should it be changed? The crackle finish dash is literally as it left the factory - in time warp condition. The vehicle has been factory: radio, speaker and antenna prepared. All carpets are pristine and, in particular, the boot area is simply immaculate. Even the boot chassis number is still covered in plastic.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The 1798cc engine number 37994, with just 483 miles, is as unique as it gets and just as it left the factory. It’s incredible to still see the British Leyland stickers and the spare key still screwed to the bulkhead. The previous owner/collector has clearly maintained the car as the oil is silky clean and behind the rear seats is a new battery, but the car will of course be serviced and checked before delivery depending on the new owner’s intentions. We have also recently carried out a complete carburetor inspection.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION – The 1798cc engine number 37994, with just 149 miles, is as unique as it gets and just as it left the factory.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES – The 14” original (Rubery Owen) Rostyle wheels are still covered in the original factory Michelin XZ tyres. On testing the car pulled up well and straight.
