1969 BMW R100/2 - R60 R50 R69s R80 R100 For Sale7 years in the making, my motorcycle is up for sale due to buying a house.
Finished in January to a very high standard is my BMW R100/2.
Originally an R60. Fitted with r100 motor on big carbs, Earls forks from a single, Russian tank and mudguards, i think a Norton headlight, cb750 front hub.
Everything is working perfectly. The motor is as smooth as they come. Gearbox is perfect with no unusual noises. Starts first time every time.
Though registered as a 1969, i have the original log book from what looks to be 1959 so you may even be able to re-register it to be MOT exempt (it is obviously tax exempt). I have paperwork for the frame as far back as 2000, mainly old MOT's and some other paperwork. As for the motor, which was purchased from my uncle, its history is known back to 1990 with only 3 former keepers since 1988. It was a perfectly good running bike before becoming the donor. Mileage is approximately 100,000.
This thing drives fantastically. The torque is dream like, the noise is the best ever. Quiet and loud when you want it to be. Breaking is as good as its going to be on drums. The bike accompanies a passenger with a pad from the tank compartment. Adjustable rear suspension for passenger or luggage. It was always built to be my dream custom bike and has definately proved to be so. If it wasnt for restoring a house and impending family commitments then for sure she would be staying with me.
I have been using it almost as a daily for the last year completely fault free except for the tank cap (which is now chrome) does not 100% seal if the tank is filled up. I am trying to amend this before sale. Also because it has been used outside in all weather conditions it has become apparent that a bar riser clamps chrome is not up to par and nor is a top earles fork bolt - Both easy to replace for about £65 from ebolt http://www.ebolt.co.uk/2-200-c.asp - Also the speedo is an old smiths from a norton so reads inaccurately but you soon learn what speeds are what from following cars.
Gets a lot of love from everyone, young and old and will be one of the best bikes you've ever owned.
This bike is hard to price being such a one off so i've gone with the top top end of what i could concieve of it being worth and so obviously open to offers and it will go to the highest bidder.
The MOT runs out on the 18th of Jan but i will be given a fresh one the earliest i can do on the 18th of dec if it is not sold before.
