1955 AUSTIN A30 2-DOOR. STUNNING, DETAILED HISTORY! For Sale
There is detailed history of her life, explaining how the 47, 000 miles from new are correct and who previous owners have been etc. Her first owner, for example, Bill Uzzell of Gloucester, kept her for 25 years. But then, nine years after moving house and taking his pride and joy with him, he finally parted with the old girl - and she was promptly returned to her previous address since the couple who had watcher her depart on the appointed leaving day were desperate to take her "home."
Thirty years after being built, she was still residing at her original address as a newspaper cutting come with the history bearing the headline: "The car that came home!"
On the car's boot lid, nestling beneath the Austin of England lettering, is a tiny metal plaque obviously fitted by Mr Uzzell. It reads: Uzzell Bothers, electrical and radio engineers. Tel. Gloucester 3175.
Anyway, back to the car. She is in fantastic order. You can lie on the ground and look up at the undersides of the doors. They are rock solid and un-damaged. Likewise, basically, the same applies to the rest of the car. Sills, for example, are in perfect fettle with original jacking points in place. Her paint finish is excellent.
She drives really well and the interior is a super, period place to be. Again, seats are original as is the dash. Even the headlining needs no attention.
The bulk of A30s and A35s have all seen plenty of work over the years, much the same as their sister cars Morris Minors have done. But this one stands out as being a true rarity. Clearly well loved all its life, you see it on the road and you would think you were looking at a two-year-old car!
There are no noticeable defects to the bodywork. Anything you see on photos showing the front/ grille area are simply shadows from the inside edge of the chrome bumper. I know. I checked. Although she doesn't require a current MoT by law, she has one which runs until September 2018!
I accept all major debit/ credit cards and a ten per cent deposit is required at the point of sale with the balance due within three days. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote.
All my classic cars are treated as the equivalent of motoring antiques. This one, for example, is 65-years-old. They cannot be compared to the wife's six-month-old Chelsea tractor and they are bound to come with imperfections, quirks and bits and pieces that will need attention even if it is some time in the future. They do however come with oodles of charm, appeal and are there to be loved like a family pet. If you are new to the classic car scene, then please bear all this in mind. Demand is outstripping supply these days and they don't make the old girls any more. So, make some allowances and drive away with a smile on your face! Thanks for reading, Martin. the details below).
