The exhaust pipes are the correct and desirable ‘80 to ’82 design with stamped part numbers 4L0-14711 and 4L0-14721. A multi-plate wet clutch operates a 6-speed gearbox. This unregistered example has had a PDI in 1981 by Padgetts Batley Ltd and has never been run since so is sold as a display machine.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This unique RD250LC remains fitted with the stylish cast-alloy wheels with black detailing and polished edging and are in fantastic undamaged condition with only mild patina visible under close scrutiny. Correct factory supplied Yokohama 3.55-18-4PR rear and 3.00-18-4PR front tyres are fitted and although perfect in appearance, if use is intended a change to new items is advised. A standard hydraulic front disc brake and rear drum is fitted.
This incredible 1981 Yamaha RD250LC was imported into the UK by the official importer Mitsui-Yamaha UK and supplied boxed and new to Padgett’s Batley Ltd, a Yamaha Main Dealer. The founder and owner, Peter Padgett, decided to assemble, carry out a pre-delivery inspection and store a handful of these machines for his personal collection. A Certificate of Newness for chassis number 4L1-302605 is included and signed by the Padgett Directors. Eventually sold to a Mr M Denton in 2001 after constant requesting and forming part of phenomenal collection from Fantic Choppers and Yamaha FS1-E’s to Kawasaki Z1’s, all in concours condition.
Supplied with the owners manual and two keys this really is a fantastic opportunity.
