This excellent driving Lotus Elan Plus Two has been with a classic car enthusiast who lives in our local village (West Knapton) for the past six years. Weíve seen the car being driven out over summer months and itís always proven totally reliable. Over the six years it has been serviced by a local Jaguar specialist and has cost very little maintain. The Elan has just covered a few hundred miles per year during recent ownership and has done around 7000 miles since complete rebuild between 2003-2008.
The car was subject of a five year rebuild having spent eighteen years off the road. The car was rebuilt on a brand new Spyder chassis and still retains its original engine and gearbox which have both been rebuilt. For reliability, a Burton Cartridge water pump was fitted along with QED pistons, electronic ignition, high torque starter and in improved radiator with electric fan. The Lotus was fully re-wired with two new looms to accept modern fuses and relays, a new alternator fitted and a very expensive stainless steel manifold was handmade and fitted. The Lotus was also treated to new galvanised inner sills, Sue Miller solid drive shafts and Tony Thompson Racing adjustable front suspension. The interior trim was re-trimmed in Italian soft leather and a new headlining and dashboard fitted with re-conditioned instruments. The bumpers were re-chromed and the car then put back on the road after an eighteen years absence. Please note the original and rare plastic centre console, original wheels and suspension all come with the car.
After almost ten years since restoration and 7000 miles, the Elan is in very good order. The chassis still looks shiny, the engine has nicely run in with excellent oil pressure and minimal oil leakage and having been serviced annually it is well kept up too and on the button. Ideally, to match the strong condition of the car, it would benefit from a full re-paint. There is some scuffing to the front driver's side wheel arch and evidence of minor crazing and reaction in places. The recent owner wanted an Elan to use and drive and it has done the job perfectly. This is a real user and something to take long distance touring without hesitation. Its great fun, it drives superbly and is strong mechanically. With exception of the paintwork, the car does present very well and its priced realistically considering the paintwork. This fantastic Elan was the first S4 FHC produced and comes complete with confirmation letter from Lotus Cars and Heritage Certificate too. Not only that but has had just four owners from new and was supplied by London Sports Car Centre in Edgware to a J W Sutcliffe.

Now fully restored with new, Mick Miller interior, I am the 2nd owner buying the car in 1986 when the engine had a top end overhaul with Big Valves, new water pump and clutch assembly. The car has since had a full chassis and body restoration with the bodywork stripped and "Myers" prepared ie all body .....
We are delighted to offer for sale this beautiful Elan Sprint finished in Lotus yellow over white. She has a new Spider chassis and has had thousands of pounds spent. She is now being re commissioned and serviced in our Maldon workshop.
