1933 Austin Seven. Beautifully patinated unrestored car SOLD

Not for sale - it has been sold via a Car and Classic Free Ad
This 1933 RP saloon is an increasingly rare thing; it's a completely unrestored car that with minimal work could - and should - be used almost exactly as it is.

It's a car that should be preserved and conserved, rather than being stripped and restored. It has probably been laid up for several decades and looks very much as it would have done in the late nineteen-fifties.

It has a lovely, shabby paint finish, hand-applied many years ago, along with an almost-complete original interior (headlining and floor mats are missing). With some careful light repairs and touching up, it could look fantastic.

The body is remarkably solid, really only needing some light repairs to the front wings and running boards.

Mechanically, the car needs a full servicing, but we're not aware of any major problems. A 1937 3-bearing engine has been fitted at some point in the past, but otherwise things appear to be very original.

The engine starts and runs very well and the car drives nicely. We've run it up to around 40mph (there was plenty still in reserve!)and it drives well. All gears work nicely and steering and brakes are adequate. The rear suspension feels a little vague, but a thorough overhaul should deal with any issues here.

Although pretty much everything works, the car will need re-wiring before use, as the original insulation is in very poor condition. However, on this model it's not a huge or expensive job.

This car really must be viewed and driven (on private land) before buying. I love it, but it won't be to everyone's taste. It has an up-to-date V5, although it doesn't currently have an MoT. I've tried to describe it as accurately as possible, but it's a quirky little thing!

I should add that I'm selling on behalf of a friend, whose interests have moved on to faster and more modern wheels.

Please note: I shall be away until 27th December and won't be able to respond to enquiries until then.

Searching for 1936 Austin 7 / Seven Ruby EPG 289

I am searching for an Austin 7 Ruby registered EPG 289 that my family owned in the 1970's and 1980's. The body was green with black wings.
