1972 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE, Concours condition, 49k kms For Sale
This is an exceptional w108 280 SE. It was ordered new in the fall of 1971 and delivered a few months later featuring the most elegant Moss Green Metallic with Cognac MB-Tex along with a series of options. Its owner used the car rarely yet serviced and cared for it evident by its immaculate interior and accident-free body. By 2016 the car had only 48000 km on the clock yet its original paint and engine were in need of professional attention.It was then sold to its second owner who decided to restore to concours level at a cost of over 30000 euros. Extreme care was provided to preserve the car's authenticity by restoring instead of replacing in mind. The body was treated with an stunning respray to the original Moss Green Metallic with all seals fitted new. The engine, suspension, steering and brakes were overhauled and detailed using genuine Mercedes-Benz parts. The interior was carefully preserved and all wooden panels were reconditioned to show standards.
The car is now offered in concours cosmetic and mechanical state with all original MB order and delivery documents.

In 2016 the following repairs were performed:
Body: The accident-free body, engine bay and wheel covers were resprayed in original Moss Green Metallic. All window, rail, door, trunk, light, bumper seals and side, grill, emblem chrome were replaced. Also the rocker panel and wheel well guards were fitted new.
Engine: Major service with new camshaft with rockers, engine and manifold gaskets, crankshaft rear oil seal, oil and gas filters, water, oil and fuel pumps, engine and differential oil, transmission fluid, rubber mounts . Also the radiator was rebuilt with all heating hoses replaced.
Interior: All wooden parts were carefully recoated and all trim preserved.
Steering: Overhauled with new tie rods, arms and repaired pump.
Suspension: New shocks were fitted.
Brakes: The booster and pump were overhauled. New calipers, discs and pads were installed.
Electrics: The starter was overhauled, the radio reconditioned and an MB battery was fitted.
This original 1968 Mercedes Benz 280SL was imported to South Africa by Vintage Car Importers in January 2015 and has since been restored extensively. It is equipped with both hard and soft top, Right.....
