I bought this 1970 Elan for the purpose of entering a hill climb championship, plans have now changed so I hope someone else would like to buy it!
The car was fully rebuilt in the mid 1990s following an accident and full insurance payout - new strengthened Tony Thompson chassis, new body by Boss and a fantastic paint by SMS, the body and paint remain in excellent condition, with very low mileage over that period.
In addition to the strengthened chassis the car is fitted with adjustable front a rear suspension (Konis at rear and I believe TTR fast road dampers at the front).
The engine was subject to a £5000 rebuild at Paul Matty Sportscars in 2007, it has done only 4300 miles since then. Rolling road set up in 2015 estimated 134bhp @6300 RPM and 121lbft at 5200 RPM.
The head is 'N' stamped (big valve, high compression) and has been fitted with 360 cams. Details of engine rebuild include - rebore and regrind crank, new pistons and bearings, oil and water pump, timing chain, new valves, springs and seats. Full detailed receipt is available. Fitted with Weber 40 DCOE carbs, rebuilt at the time.
My plan was to make some minor modifications for hill climb - I have an uprated cooling fan, stainless S4 exhaust, solid drive shafts and a full safety devices roll cage here which will be supplied with the car.
Overall a lovely Elan and great to drive, it has an MOT until October 2018 and comes with a nice file of receipts back to the 1990s rebuild.
