This incredibly rare C1 Audi 100 is remains totally unspoilt and showcases remarkable originality having covered a mere 17,142 miles in the ownership of Father and Son. The optional and factory original Malachit Metallic paintwork, (Code L96Y), displays a beautiful polished shine and uniform finish that defies its age, having been garaged all its life. Worthy of mention are a small dent to the offside rear door and ding to the nearside front, left untreated so as to uphold originality. Minor touched in age related marks are minimal and utterly insignificant. All trim sections, lights, rubbers and badges are incredibly well preserved. The Cadulac plug holes remain as evidence to the original owner’s forward thinking, knowing perhaps that he were to keep the car for almost 40 years! The supplying dealer pressed number plates and etched glass remain fitted. A fantastic testament to Audi build quality and the fastidious ownership this car has enjoyed.

The posture-formed upholstery in Amber velour, (Code 31), has remained in perfect preserved condition thanks to the fitment of tailored heavy duty polythene covers from new. A near museum-like cabin space with the amazing condition of the seats visible through the clear plastic is simply remarkable. All interior trim sections, door cards, headlining and fascia are as new. The carpet has been well protected with only very light furring to the pile in the driver’s footwell and transmission tunnel. The original Sharp RC-2000 radio and electric aerial still functions. Originality seekers will delight at factory stickers on the door shuts, paint code sticker in the boot and even the new car running in schedule in the windscreen! Arguably the most original and preserved example in existence, one for the serious Audi collector.

Fitted with the four-cylinder 1871cc engine with two-stage carburettor and automatic choke, a performance output of 112bhp achieves a top speed of 111mph and sales literature quotes 0-60 in 10.8 seconds. The beautifully clean engine bay is totally standard and original with Audi NSU panel stampings, chassis stamp, factory plates and even PDI markings still visible! The four speed all synchromesh gearbox is precise and a joy to use.

The standard steel wheels with original Audi stamped hub caps remain in fantastic order with only minor age-related markings. Incredibly, the factory fitted Michelin XAS radial ply tyres remain fitted which whilst showing good visual order and tread, replacement and storage of originals would be a wise safety precaution. The steering-stabilising braking system incorporates discs to the front and ribbed rear drums for efficient heat dissipation, provides excellent stopping power from this safety conscious manufacturer.

Supplied new by Audi Main Dealers, The Dovercourt Motor Company Limited of London, on the 13th October 1976, this example was one of the very final C1 models prior to the launch of the C2. The first owner purchased the car to go alongside his virtually identical example which was even in the same colour of Malachit Metallic! The new car sales invoice and receipt confirms the price paid of £4,028.81 and it remains in the history file alongside the sales invoice for his identical car purchased 18 months prior. The original Audi document wallet houses all handbooks, guides and even the Dovercourt tax disc holder. Remarkably and despite the low mileage, the original service booklet contains 14 stamped entries from the first in 1976 at 78 miles to the most recent in October 2017 at 17,119 miles. Even the Cadulac Corrosion Preventative application certificate dated six days prior to first registration has been kept! Furthermore, the impressive history file contains previous MOT certificates dating from the first in 1979 to the most recent. Completing the history file is the original blue V5 document prior to registration to his son after his Father, the original owner, passed away in 2015. Two sets of keys and supplying dealer fobs and the original sales brochures are with the car. Built to last and very well maintained by the fastidious and devoted owner, the correct recipe for this cars longevity.

MOT October 2018, HPI Clear.
