We acquired this Riley 1.5 Litre RME from an elderly enthusiast from Sheffield who had a small collection of rare classic cars and it is only for sale due to his ill health.
He has used this car as a regular form of transport over the past ten years and has kept it in good running order without worrying about keeping the bodywork pristine so we are offering it at a price where it can be used as it is but leaving room to improve it by the new owner if they desire.
In April 2014 he had the engine stripped and rebuilt at a cost of £1919 and in May 2015 he drove the car on the Riley 90th Anniversary Run from London to Edinburgh without problem.
Although the car is now MOT exempt as it was manufactured prior to 1960, it has an MOT which runs until December 2018.
Removable front and rear indicators to make the car safer for use on today's roads have been fitted to the bumpers although the original semaphores are still in working order.
The history file contains the current V5 log book, an old style log book, an old style V5, the current MOT, an original handbook, some previous MOT certificates, various invoices including the receipt for the engine rebuild and the rally plate, road book and the participation certificate for the 90th Anniversary Run.
Rules that commenced in October 2014 mean that the car will need to be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner but this will be free as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
Prospective buyers are welcome to come a view the car in our Leeds showroom.

The Riley 9 was a middle class car which Riley launched in 1926 with the first model being the Riley 9 Monaco. We understand this Riley 9 to be carrying a ‘special’ bodywork with close similarities to the Brooklands Model with the chassis number indicating it was built as a Riley 9 Monaco Saloon.
In our Thursday June 8th Auction
First registered 9th May 1930, the Riley was purchased by the late owner in 1959. HJ 9902 had by then been turned into a Special, and restoration started on returning the car back to a 'proper' Riley. A tourer body was purchased, from what appears to have been a Mk .....

Although the V5c states that this is a 1932 car, the chassis number indicates it is actually an early 1934 model.
