The Citroën CX Concorde is one of the most enigmatic cars in Citroën's history, and its birth is inextricably linked to the plane that bears the same name. In 1985, in order to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the first supersonic commercial flight, Air France planned to organize a ceremony on 20 January 1986, in Toulouse. The company wanted the crew to be transported in a car reminiscent of the style of the aircraft and ordered from Citroën a series of 10 or 12 CX 25 GTI Turbos, with special equipment including special white pearl paint (accessories included), red seats in the same fabric as those of the aircraft, special carpet, ABS braking, air conditioning, telephone antenna, etc. The mechanicals were modified by the Danielson workshop so that the power exceeded that of the standard version. But the project got all messed up: Citroën had problems achieving the specific paint shade and quality, the cars could not be delivered on time, and Air France cancelled its order. Nonetheless, six cars were completed: three would be used by Citroën executives, then destroyed, and three given to dealers in Rennes and Reims. Of these, only two are probably surviving, including the one on offer.
Registered on June 6, 1986, this car was sold by the Reims dealer to a contractor who used it for his travels in Europe for six years, covering 550, 000km, ensuring a very thorough maintenance. In 1996, he sold the car to a Mr. Dehu. At the wheel of his new vehicle, Mr Dehu participated in several events, such as the 25th anniversary of the CX, in 1999. In 2001 the car was for sale in a French magazine and Richard Reinders and a friend bought it. They stored the car carefully and took it out of the garage only for the launch of the book "De Originele Citroën CX", by Michael Buurma, as well as for the anniversary of the Dutch CX club in 2017. Recently, this very special CX benefited from a complete mechanical overhaul by a CX specialist, with invoices totaling more than € 7, 500.
For a Citroën collector, this car is a fantastic restoration project, and represents the opportunity to acquire a very rare car, with an uncommon finish and history!

At the age of 12, I discovered the Citroën DS. It was 1968 and this impressive car became a regular visitor in the streets of Maastricht where I lived. I was totally captivated by its shape and beauty, and I understood that is was different to other cars. I promised myself I would have one, one day... And so it was that, after my studies, I bought a superb DS 23i injection, and made this first dream come true.
I was visiting Paris one day, when Costa coffee had just opened. I was sitting at a table outside when I saw a magnificent DS convertible go by, black with a black leather interior. I couldn't believe my eyes, it was more than a dream, and I started to run after this car that I'd never seen before.
That was the moment I began to collect cars bodied by Chapron, and I started with a factory cabriolet. I also set up Citroën Chapron meetings in Europe, and discovered that a huge number of different models had been designed and built by Henri Chapron. Being a collector at heart, I wanted to bring together the rarest models, and tried to find examples that were as close to their original condition as possible. My aim has been to preserve them intact, and avoid destroying their character by replacing parts. In my cars, you can breathe in the scent of their various histories, conjuring up the different characters who have been cosseted in the back seats, from Charles de Gaulle and George Pompidou to royal personalities and captains of industry from a time not so far back, when French elegance and style flourished.
Thanks to my friends, I was able to meet Mme Françoise Chapron, who allowed me to visit her every month to study her archives and learn a huge amount about my favourite subject, the Citroën Chapron. I would like to thank Frédéric Prain, Pierre Verpeau, Henri Rateau and Jean-François Ramain for having guided me through the wonderful world of Henri Chapron and letting me enjoy 38 unforgettable years with this collection.

For sale in our upcoming auction on February 9th in Paris.

50 000 - 80 000 €
