1937 MG SA Drophead Coupe by Tickford. 6 cylinder 2.3 Litre 4 Speed manual. The 3 position hood arrangement on this model makes it a very attractive touring car. In the half open position you can be in full sunshine whilst being protected from the wind. It also happens to look stunning in this position to; so you drive through the countryside with the most decadent feeling.
Sold by Beaulieu Garage to a local student in 1966 for the princely sum of £30. We have some interesting pictures of it outside his parents house in Lymington; though in rather poorer condition than it is now. Four years later he sold it for £70.
Restored between 1991 and 1993 by the marque's leading restorer Peter Ratcliffe of SVW at a substantial cost. Over twenty years and 6,000 miles later it is a real testament to the quality of the restoration. The paint is still superb, the chrome is sparkling and the trim is still georgeous. It has a superb torquey engine, lovely gearbox and drives beautifully. Finished in an attractive colour scheme of Coffee and cream coachwork with chocolate mohair hood and oatmeal leather.
The car has been meticulously maintained since and has featured in MG Enthusiast magazine in 1994. It was also featured by the BBC radio and television when Beaulieu Garage offered it for sale again nearly fifty later. A fabulous open 4 seater Vintage car which exudes elegance and character.
