Here we are offering a MK1 Escort Mexico, on behalf of one our good customers, who is having a small ‘shuffle around’ of his Ford collection.
Many more pictures available upon request.
Registered new, 5th of October 1972, this MK1 Escort Mexico was with its previous keeper from 2003 until March 2017.
The restoration works were carried out by the previous owner in 2006, after using the car regularly without any mechanical issues from 2003 – 2006.
The car was originally Maize Yellow, but has been changed at point of restoration to Olympic Blue with Dark Blue stripes.
Body & Paintwork:
Originally finished in Maize Yellow, this car has undergone a full colour change to Olympic Blue wih dark blue stripes
This repaint includes all shuts, engine bay, and the underside.
This work was carried out by the previous owner, a number of years ago now and still presents very nicely.
A couple of very small imperfections are showing as you might expect from a car which was restored some time ago, but overall still a great looking example.
Still showing all the correct strengthening to the shell of course, and the car is AVO registered.
The glass is generally in good condition, although some scratching is present, which any keen Ford Escort Mexico enthusiast will know, is very common.
All chrome is in good condition, although the nearside front quarter bumper is showing a few signs of age.
The Revolution wheels, whilst not original, do suit the car very well and look period to the vehicle.
Interior & Trim:
As per the rest of the vehicle, the interior presents well and is a pleasure to be in…
Sporting the ‘wood pack’ gives this Mexico that extra bit of Retro goodness, with all wood being in fine condition.
All switch gear works as it should do.
The seats and trims are all in very good condition, really showing that the attention has not just been on the exterior/running gear.
The Kent Crossflow has had a full rebuild in 2006, with receipts for the parts showing various new components, including a new clutch also.
Come to the car, and rest assured it starts with ease, be it cold or warm.
Upon start up, the engine is quiet and no smoke is present.
Once on the road, this car is great fun to drive, giving smooth ample acceleration, with no unwanted hesitations through the rev range.
The engine bay itself presents nicely, but could be improved by its new owner with ease, which you can see in the pictures.
As you would expect, the running gear is all in very good condition and the car drives very well.
Steering, suspension and brakes all perform well, with no unwanted noises at all.
Again, the clutch and gearbox operate very nicely.
With Bilstein rear shock absorbers, and coilovers on the front, the car has clearly been set up to drive well.
When the MkII Escort was launched, the RS name continued with the Cosworth-engined RS1800, produced in tiny numbers. More widespread Rallye Sport production was initiated with the RS2000 of 1976 which.....
