Lagonda 4 Seater Open Special 1930 -To be auctioned 27-04-18 For Sale by Auction

Car 4 of 4 – Probate sale

This is a very fine example of a Lagonda 4-seater open special, having a 2lit twin carb, twin cam engine. Very little is known about the history of the car pre-war. The Lagonda Owners Club are aware of this car and have been very helpful. We will put on-line the letter we received from them. To put it in a nutshell the car started life probably as a 2lit saloon in1930. The V5 has her registered as a tourer and the date of registration is 23. 1. 47. I think you will agree with me, when you see this car, whoever built it was a very fine craftsman – she looks a beauty. She comes with some old tax discs, 20 odd, the last one was 2015 and old MOT’s from 1975 – 2006 which shows that the car was in regular use. This car can be viewed from now, by appointment

Auctioneers notes: We have decided to sell the probate cars as non-runners, We found these cars in a barn-like building covered with sheets etc. It is obvious that they have been used up to 2015 judging by the tax discs. I would suggest a small amount of re-commissioning should be the order of the day and hopefully you will be very impressed with these cars when you view them.
N. B. The late Mr. Cherrett was an aero-nautical engineer and loved nothing more than taking a car apart, improving, it and putting it back together. He was also quite a character and had novel ideas to prevent theft of his vehicles, such as, the Lagonda had the steering column detached from the dash board, which meant that the steering wheel rested on the floor, his thinking was that it would be very difficult for thieves to take the car. We have attached the column to the dash board to enable us to move the car, but please, the buyer of this car must check that the work we did was done correctly and also check the steering box, he might have loosened that.
