1982 model and imported to the UK probably from one of the dry states in the USA in 1995.
Registered in the UK on 06/02/1995.
Spent most of its life either in the sunshine or a nice warm garage.
It is not show winning, but with very little work it could be show winning standard, or it could be ridden and enjoyed as intended.
It has had the following work carried out to get it up to scratch.
Carbs, removed, stripped, cleaned refitted and balanced.
New fork oil and seals, they are air forks and hold pressure perfectly.
Chrome on the forks is good and we fitted gaiters while they where being rebuilt.
New tapper roller steering bearings fitted and adjusted.
Service including oil (semi synthetic) and filter.
This is a 35 year old bike and it is in remarkably good overall condition but not perfect. There is the odd mark in the paint, although no chips or deep scratches, there is the odd bit of chrome with very minor pitting, although no rust, or flaking, There is the odd mark on the engine case, although no scores or crash damage. The seat is in perfect condition. It is fitted with Michelin tyres with plenty of tread. Chain and sprockets look almost new. Overall it is an extremely good example of a very usable 80s Japanese classic.
It starts instantly and settles to a smooth even idle, it pulls well in every gear and rides well. There is a little clutch rattle at idle as should be expected with any 80s Kawasaki 4 cylinder, and this disappears completely by 1500 rpm which is pretty much how they were when new. The clutch bites well, does not slip and rather surprisingly for a Kawasaki does not drag either.
It still has the original tool kit under the seat and most parts look original apart from the hand grips, which could do with replacing with something more original.
It has covered just under 19000 miles and although this can not be verified the previous MOT seem to back this up.
The MOT expires on 20/05/2019
V5C and old MOTs are with the bike.
