1965 MK1 Mini Cooper 1275 S - Fully Rebuilt For Sale
|This is an original MK1 Mini Cooper 1275 S -RHD – with matching numbers and plates that was manufactured in November 1965 and first registered in January 1966.|
It was taken off the road some ten years later after its differential failed when it had only covered 65,000 miles and was then stored in not ideal conditions for the next 30 years until it was purchased by Peter Miles who had a local bodyshop in the Burton on Trent/ Mickleover area, his intention was to restore this Mini to its former glory and although had accumulated many of the parts to complete its rebuild he never actually made a start..
We have now completed the bodyshell’s rebuild using it’s original doors, bonnet, boot lid, inner flitch panels and most importantly it’s original bulkhead with floors and sill sections with genuine heritage components, which is fully recorded in our photographic history file of our work undertaken in its shell’s reconstruction and finished in its original colour combination of Tartan Red with a Black Roof as stated on its British Motor Industry Trust trace certificate.
Accompanying this MK1 Mini 1275 Cooper S is the majority of its original component parts that have now been refurbished or sourced and are now ready to fit to the shell including it’s original hydrolastic specification suspension system or if prefered the more conventional dry suspension. Including it’s original glass which is all dated correctly with its original interior Red/ Gold brocade trim which is in very good condition overall and we hope to be able to reuse the large majority, it will however have new carpets and dash pads, the instruments original pod has been fully refurbished with on original old stock speedometer together with oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge.
Its running gear including its original Austin engine has been rebuilt by Don Loughlin Engineering and Mini engine specialist with the gearbox having being fitted with the latest Hardy Spicer shaft couplings, along with its refurbished carburetors that are ready to fit to its original air cleaner box.
With the benefit of the twin petrol tank upgrade and we ate offering a clients their choice of wheels whether it has 3.5 insJX10 original steel wheels or a set of period 4.5 JX10 alloy Minilites.
This is a rare opportunity to purchase an original MK1 Mini 1275 Cooper S in probably the most desirable colour combination with a nice providence.
