1967 Reliant Scimitar SE4 3Ltr. Coupe.
Subject of a recently completed 2 year body-off restoration after lying unused since 1984.
CHASSIS: Totally stripped, repaired and strengthened as required.
MECHANICS: Dismantled and restored or replaced as appropriate.
Fitted with replacement (known 30,000 mile) engine which has steel timing gear, hardened valve seats, new valve guides & heads skimmed. New carburettor, along with re-cored radiator.
Four speed gearbox, with working overdrive.
COACHWORK: All paintwork removed from bodywork, with damaged areas being ground back to first glass layer, a resin-rich tissue layer being applied and then faired-in.
Rusted-out A-pillars, door hinge & sill reinforcements cut-out and replaced. Re-finished and re-sprayed in a 'Ford' red for ease of any future paint-match.
ELECTRICS: Completely re-wired with battery being re-located to the boot. Electronic ignition and electric fan.
INTERIOR: Original dash, seats & door cards all in good condition, with new headlining and carpets.
THE DRIVE: A good tight drive, with everything working as it should. Reverse gear is sometimes difficult to engage, so maybe the linkage might need a little adjustment. She also seems a bit on the loud side (although I have nothing to compare her to!), so maybe the carpet, underlay and under-bonnet matting that has been fitted could be replaced to improve interior comfort levels.
SUMMARY: A really comprehensive restoration of what is now quite a rare vehicle, with an MOT until July 2018. Currently showing just 70500 miles (not warrantied), but with everything replaced or re-built you can draw your own conclusions on whether this is even relevant!
If I was being critical, I would suggest that the pre-paint preparation was not to the best standard, as she does not shine quite as well as she might. She is fine as she is, but perhaps any new owner might consider addressing this sometime in the future. I have taken this into consideration in my asking price.
I bought her late last year to replace my Daimler Dart, but I'm afraid that she doesn't (well, not for me anyway!), so she might as well go to someone who can better enjoy her.

One of only 120 left on the road this example has been carefully dry stored for many years but due to ill health this project was never finished. Complete and only needs putting back together, some engine work and a light recommision.

Good solid car which requires some general recommissioning and small bits doing to make it into a reliable car. Note the paint has some blistering.
Starts and drives - overdrive works and all gears seem fine. Brakes work OK but could do with a quick going over as it hasnít been used regularly for .....
