1968 AC Cobra by DAX Aston Martin DBS For Sale by Auction

For sale by auction on Saturday 3rd March 2018 with Historics auctions. Registration NTD 800G Chassis Number DBS-5137R Odometer reading 11524 Estimate 40000-50000 The hugely charismatic DAX Cobra has remained the undisputed market leader for more than 25 years and has steadily established itself as a much sought after classic sports car in its own right. The car's enduring popularity owes much to DAX's policy of continual product improvement and painstaking attention to detail. For many years now, the clear customer favourite has been the small-block Chevrolet V8; perhaps due to its competitive price and wide choice of power outputs. But other popular engines include units from the Ford small block and all-aluminium Chevrolet LS ranges with Rover V8 and Jaguar units still proving highly popular with some people. It's no exaggeration to say that these cars amaze all who go out in them; harnessing the power with consummate ease and providing levels of grip, composure and ride comfort that simply have to be experienced to be believed. This Dax Cobra is based on an Aston Martin DBS V8 and has been built to a high standard. The chassis and engine are from an Aston Martin and the registration document still shows it as an Aston Martin DBS. The engine has been rebuilt by Aston Engineering using Cosworth pistons and converted to dry sump; she now puts out an impressive 450 bhp. Braking is via A.P.Racing brakes ensuring this rapid machine has the stopping power required. This Dax/Aston Martin was constructed over a ten year period at a cost of in excess of 65,000. The V8 engine is fuelled by four downdraught Weber carburettors and the protruding exhaust system sounds as impressively as it looks. The current vendor has owned this unique vehicle for some 14 years and is only selling her due to lack of suitable storage space. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate and a comprehensive history, this mightily impressive and distinctive vehicle is not for the faint hearted.
