About the 944S
Following the success of the Porsche 924 and 944 models, the 'S' was introduced with the addition of the 16V engine which produced a top speed of 144mph. The normally aspired inline 4 watercooled engine had a max rpm of 6800, with a 0-60mph in just over 6 seconds. As well as the more powerful running system, the 944S also featured an updated exhaust, stronger wheel bearings and brake servos. The 'S' was simply the more refined version of the 944 model and only being produced for just over a year, there are far fewer of them remaining in a good condition today.
In stunning and original condition, this example of a 944S has been cared for remarkably well and this is reflected in the appearance of the entire vehicle. The rare Diamond Blue paint work is brilliant all around the car and there are no signs of surface rust or scratches. The underneath of the vehicle is equally as well preserved and it is visable that the vehicle has been kept indoors and well looked after.
The original 'Porsche Script' seats are black vinyl with cloth inserts, and have no signs of wear. The dashboard has none of the nasty cracks which 944's typically suffer from and all of the electrical components are working as they should be including the electric seats, windows, sunroof and central locking. The period FM/AM radio is complete with original user manuals. The gear change of the 5-speed, manual gear box is smooth and the 944S has power-assisted steering and ABS .
This Porsche has been owned by the same lady since 1989 and the same Porsche specialist garage has cared for the car and regularly maintained it for many years. Almost every receipt has been kept with the vehicle and there is a detailed, documented record of services carried out from 1987 to 2013 where it has been kept inside until present.
