1974 TOTALLY UNSPOILT AND ORIGINAL SHARP ALLEGRO 1300 For Sale
Just under 50k miles, off the road for over 30 years and shortly to have it’s first MOT since the 1980’s. Has to be one of the finest unrestored examples, which was locked away in the last owners garage in south London in all that time. Never rusty, never ever welded, but because of a few supermarket dings and scrapes. I had the whole car resprayed in 2016, with all closing panels removed etc etc. and of course painted in the original 1970’s ‘Bracken’, usually seen on Triumph Stags and the occasional MG Midget. Wonderful period shade, which contrasts well with the near perfect Navy Blue Vinyl upholstery and off white headlining.
I did replace the original navy carpets, as these were faded somewhat and the result proves to me this was the correct thing to do. When installing the carpets, the floorpan was exposed and shown to be as it left the factory and I have taken pictures of the floor prior to refitting the original soundproofing and new carpeting.
Mechanically, all fluids were drained and replaced and the brakes, steering and suspension were mildly recommissioned as required.
Engine purrs as it should and the fuel tank was removed, drained and steam cleaned and painted as a precautionary measure, before being refitted. And the hydralastic suspension was pumped up using the correct Leyland equipment and found to be fully functional.
A lot of money for arguably a motoring ‘icon’ and of course this model is/was fitted with the original quartic steering wheel.
Not available until the end of March, car has to be viewed to appreciate what it is and the overall condition.
Lots of history from the 1970,s including the original purchase receipt.......
