Vintage models of the Riley Nine have always been especially sought after - the MkIV fabric bodied Tourer, particularly so.
Light, nimble and sporting in character, these delightful cars are truly a joy to drive and rewarding to own.
Known to me for many years, this 1930 example, as with many tourers, was originally a Monaco Saloon. It was apparently re-bodied in the 1950s as a trials special and in around 1982 was to undergo a major restoration which included being re-bodied in the style of a MkIV fabric bodied tourer.
An extremely correct car and driving particularly well, this car has been the subject of continual maintenance and fettling to ensure it has remained in peak condition. Well known in Riley circles, it benefits from a current VSCC Buff Form and is currently running on a single SU Carburettor, to ensure eligibility for Light Car events. A coil ignition conversion ensures reliability. The car also has a higher ratio rear axle making for more relaxed cruising on long runs.
The car has green upholstery and good hood and side screens plus tonneau and hood covers. There is also a large touring trunk included.
Copious amounts of documentation are supplied including the correct spare parts catalogue and a substantial amount of bills dating back over many years.

This 2.5 Riley has undergone a program of work over recent years costing thousands of pounds. The car has had a new wood frame, re-veneered interior woodwork, re-upholstered leather seats, new headlining,.....
The Riley 9 was a middle class car which Riley launched in 1926 with the first model being the Riley 9 Monaco. We understand this Riley 9 to be carrying a ‘special’ bodywork with close similarities.....
Recently completed and now wonderful to drive. The Riley has a rebuilt Merlin 9 engine and ENV preselector gearbox. The brakes are actually quite good for a 9, stopping the car quickly with no fuss......
