- Donald Healey Motor Co, Warwick supplied
DFH 138B was restored to right hand drive in 1993 to its present colour scheme of Royal Blue on Black interior trim and has covered just 950 miles since with good MOT history from present day back to 1991. It is this light use that has ensured that today the car remains in clean condition both on the underneath and on the surface. The car remains a 'matching numbers' example with the chassis, gearbox, engine and body numbers matching those on its verified British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate.
Originally built between the 30th January and 21st February 1964 at the Abingdon works, DFH 138B was despatched on 3rd March to Donald Healey Motor Company, Warwick for personal export delivery to the USA. Sales made directly by the Donald Healey Motor Company for export wre likely handled personally by Brian 'Bic' Healey - son of Donald Healey, Director - as purchases made by then US servicemen.
The restoration was carried out by marque specialists Cotswold Classics and included a total strip down to bare metal. The car was primed and painted in multiple coats of two-pack base and three layers of clear. Brightwork was re-chromed, the interior re-trimmed and carpeted, the engine rebuilt, the car rewired and much more.
On testing the vehicle at present day the engine and oil pressure are strong, the gearbox and optional overdrive operate very well and the car has good handling composure. We have re-chromed the original grille, machine polished the aluminium and fitted a new rear bumper.
Provided comprehensively serviced with MOT, paper documentation of restoration and heritage certificate of authenticity. Paperwork indicates the car may have the low mileage of 72,000 miles from new. Just fitted with new chrome wheels and tyres.
