It was already clear from the launch in 1961, but today, more than half a decade later, everybody agrees that the Jaguar E-type 3.8 Coupé is THE Jaguar style icon!
Built in several series over a period of twelve years, each of these series (and sub-series) has their own advantages and disadvantages. While purists swear by early outside bonnet lock and flat floor examples, the '62 Series I E-Type offers in our opinion the best of both worlds, combining a styling almost identical to the very early E-Types with a much lower price tag – not to mention the extra leg room!
A ’62 E-Type does indeed check all the boxes of what most people see as "the classic E-Type": covered headlights, bucket seats with a curved top, aluminium-trimmed centre console and instrument panel, sleek design outside and inside, the original 3.8 litre 6-cylinder, ... yes, this is as classic as an E-Type gets!
This Jaguar E-Type with chassis number 886510 left the factory in August 1962 as a left hand drive Opalscent Silver Grey coupé with red interior. Still united with its original 3.8 litre engine R6811-9, but now coupled to the improved full synchromesh gearbox that was used in the 4.2 litre E-Type, it is fresh out of a complete restoration. The Opalescent Silver Grey paintjob is simply flawless, making this graceful beauty even more elegant!
Sold with our "seal of approval", this automotive icon can be yours for 175.000 Euro.
