A unique opportunity to own a unique car. The number of RHD long wheel base E3 3.3 saloons remaining be counted on one hand, but we do not know of another carburettor variant still in existence. The E3 3.3l L shows how far ahead of the game BMW were in 1975 compared to their rivals in Stuttgart. Oozing discreet luxury and incredibly well built, this power saloon gives you a glimpse into the future as envisaged by Munich. Compared to the agricultural feel of its Mercedes equivalent, the E3 feels lighter, more hi-tec and refined. Dan has commented that the long wheel base version of the E3, the 3.3l L, is the ultimate in ‘cold war chic’ and now has a wonderful retro ‘gangster’ look.
Finished in a perfect period colour exterior coachwork, and trimmed in luxury black leather the car is awash with armrests, electrically powered accessories such as roof, mirrors and windows front and rear (a luxury for the time) as well as the original period radio, this fabulous car has been kept original and authentic. Known to us for the last two ownership periods – which covers back to the 90s – the car has been kept in good shape but stored by both owners who are both serious collectors. The E3 shows 40XXX genuine miles and is in excellent mechanical shape. We are also delighted to find a full set of original supplied manuals and a service book – a rare find on cars of this era.
The car will be delivered to the new owner having been through an extensive but sympathetic program of light restoration to the body to ensure the total absence of any corrosion. Once completed, this car will be a superb example to be cherished for many years to come.
