Rally Preparation Services is pleased to offer for sale charming and very original 1979 Mk 1 Fiat Ritmo or Strada as it was known in most English-speaking markets. The Ritmo was launched in 1978 as a replacement to the ageing 128 with the slogan “Hand built by robots” and with an iconic global TV ad. The body was considered cutting edge design (in the 70s) with a low Cd and pioneered the use of large plastic bumpers integrated into the bodywork. Mechanically the Ritmo is very simple and a conventional Fiat. Production continued in Cassino in Italy and under licence in Barcelona as the SEAT Ritmo until the facelifted Mk 2 was launched in 1982.
Finished in Grigio Jet Grey this Ritmo 60 is sparsely equipped but has a willing and lively 60Ps 1049cc 4cylinder mated to a 4 speed transmission. Driven all the way from Ferrara in northern Italy to Oxfordshire by RPS without any issue but miles of smiles is testament to the robustness and reliability of this diminutive little Fiat. Ideal for use as an everyday classic. The Ritmo / Strada is becoming a sought-after vehicle with barely a handful of vehicles now in the UK. Also, and more excitingly with it being eligible for events such as the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique we would be delighted to carry out the build into a rally car. The car is currently with RPS’ sister company - the SASCo storage facility and available for inspection.
