89k miles / 33 service stamps / new cambelt, big service and tyres / new MOT no advisories!
To BMW enthusiasts, the E30 generation of the BMW 3 Series has for many years been the epitome of the “modern classic” car. While the car’s old-fashioned styling makes it a real head turner on the road today, it is still a safe, comfortable and – perhaps most importantly – very reliable car. It was not until 1987, four years into production, that BMW officially introduced the convertible version of this timeless icon, while all earlier roofless models were conversions by coach builder Bauer. While Bauer convertibles are loved by few, original factory convertible E30s are seriously cool and very sought after, with prices rising steadily.
This particular E30 is a 1989 model year 320i automatic convertible in timeless “alpine white” with a navy blue hood. The cars interior sports full black leather upholstery in excellent condition, a very rare find on a BMW of this age. Like all convertible E30s, the car comes with relatively high specification as standard, including 15-inch BBS alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, power steering, electric windows, front fog lights and the more nimble three-spoke steering wheel. Naturally it is also supplied with its toolkit intact and original radio installed. The car is also equipped with an original 1980s car phone, which is still in working order. Altogether, it is a stylish throwback and an absolute pleasure to drive!
The fact that this car has been looked after is not just reflected in its outstanding condition but also in its respectable history file. The original service booklet survives to show a total of 33 stamps, including 20 main dealer inspections. There is an abundance of receipts and invoices from recent years, as well as full MOT history dating back to 1997. In preparation for sale, we have also spared no expense and undertaken all essential service work to ensure the car’s safe and enjoyable use for the future. The Inspection II service carried out includes all fluid and filters as well as spark plugs. The timing belt was also replaced and the car is supplied with a new MOT expiring 03/2019 with no advisories, as well as a new set of tyres.
As the only BMW car of its era to be officially sold as a convertible (except the prohibitively expensive Z1 Roadster), this car is an absolute must have for BMW enthusiasts. However, just in time for spring, this car is also an excellent entry level classic for anyone simply looking for some drop-top excitement.
