A really lovely example of the now collectible BMW E36 Convertible. This car was first registered in April 1999 and supplied by Heathrow BMW, and looks superb finished in Steel blue metallic with special order two tone full leather interior and navy hood.
From day one this car has been cared for meticulously and having had only 3 owners, all the paperwork, including the sales invoice, complete service history and all old MOT's have been retained giving the car great provenance. It also still has its BMW document wallet with all the information and fully stamped service book.
The car appears to of spent it's life in London which would go someway to explaining the very low mileage (roughly 4,000mls per year) and its excellent condition having been garaged by at least the last owner, who had the car from 2003. What also appeals so much is that this car is totally original, including the original alloy wheels, BMW radio etc.
As you can see from the photos the exterior condition is extremely good, with the paintwork looking deep and lustrous, it would also appear to be original and thus never accident damaged or resprayed. Unlike so many of these models, it has retained it originality with the standard specification alloy wheels all in top condition with good tyres and no modifications whatsoever.
There are no dents or damage to the bodywork and the hood is perfect having just had a new rear window fitted.
It really does look superb and its hard to believe this car is 19 years old. There is of course no corrosion which blighted so many of the BMW's of this era.
Once again, the interior is completely standard, retaining the original BMW radio/cassette. When the car was sold to the second owner, a CD multi-changer was fitted in the boot as well as an alarm system (invoice from BMW to substantiate).
There is also digital climate control with air conditioning which was a rare and expensive option...it also still works!. The two tone blue leather seats are in very good order, with only the drivers seat bolster showing signs of wear. All the equipment and switch gear works exactly as it should. It would appear the drivers door card has had a repair at some stage but it is barely noticeable.
Driving the car
As you would expect of a car with this low mileage and extensive history, it starts on the button every time and with no smoke or strange noises, the engine ticks over perfectly. The clutch is light and the gearbox feels tight and precise. On the road the performance is surprisingly good and the engine performs well with the manual gearbox and also provides good economy. Even at motorway speed there is no shakes or vibration and you could be driving a 3 year old car!
The power steering and brakes are also all perfect and it is truly and very usable, enjoyable and reliable everyday classic.
In conclusion, this is a rare opportunity to get a genuine low mileage BMW convertible with great provenance and full service history.
These cars are extremely good value at the moment and at the very worst you will have a completely depreciation proof, smart, reliable
and practical classic.
