1990 Monte-Carlo Lamborghini: First carbon-chassis GT ever made For Sale
In 1990 a Team led by ex-Ferrari engineer Carlo Chiti and Le Mans/Indy driver Fulvio Ballabio creates a totally new Super-Car with carbon-fibre chassis and bodywork, for the first time in History : the contemporary Ferrari F40 only had a tubular chassis...!
This incredible berlinette is powered, thanks to a cooperation with Lamborghini, by the legendary Countach Quattrovalvole V12 engine. With 450 BHP, a sleek aerodynamic carbon bodywork, and a luxurious leather upholstered cockpit, this ultra-lightweight new GT is hand-made in Monaco, and boasts superior performance.
The Monte-Carlo Team comprised experts like G. Bellasi (ex-Formula 1 constructor), carbon-fibre specialist, Pier Luigi Corbari (ex-Alfa Romeo Engineer and Racing Director) and is supported by Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Stéphanie. Specialied Press compared the Monte-Carlo Lamborghini to the Porsche 959, to the Bugatti EB110 (still in development at the time), and of course to the Ferrari F40.
Tested by Henri Pescarolo on the Paul Ricard race track, the new supercar was so close to a racing car that two Monte-Carlo Automobiles were lined-up at Le Mans, with a recorded top speed of 354 km/h...
