1924 Lancia Lambda Series III Saloon by Castagna For Sale
From a single family ownership since 1945.....
Completed on August 22nd 1924 this 'timewarp' Lambda left Lancia’s Turin factory for Milan where specialist coachbuilders Castagna fitted a well-proportioned and rakish saloon body of traditional ash-frame construction. Unusually this was fitted over the steel factory original to retain the car’s ‘monocoque’ body structure. The Castagna Milan body is believed to be unique and may possibly be a demonstration model which Castagna may have offered to Lancia as an all-Italian alternative to the open tourer.
In its current family ownership since 1945, the car has an incredible history and comes with all preceding logbooks starting with its first UK owner who bought the car in 1926, so a complete ownership trail can be shown from then to now.
The car was used as a ‘daily driver’ until the 1980s, but in more recent years the Lambda has been used for touring with the Lancia club and for pleasure trips on ‘high days and holidays’.
Julian Shoolheifer Limited are agents for the sale on behalf of the family that have owned the car for a staggering 72 years. This is a unique opportunity to be the new custodian of this lovely mellow and extremely pretty, quality Italian saloon. A large quantity of ephemera, rally plaques, special tools and unique spares are included in the sale.
