The 2001 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish was a much-needed leap forward for Aston Martin under Ford Ownership, it replaced the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage as the flagship and at the time, a design and engineering marvel by the Newport Pagnell factory. Designed by famed British designer Ian Callum and of course James Bond’s choice of transportation for ‘Die Another Day’ in 2002. The V12 Vanquish was the gentleman’s choice of a grand tourer and available in both 2+0 or 2+2 layout.
The V12 Vanquish’s construction featured a tub made of aluminium and carbon fibre, as well as composite and more carbon fibre incorporated in the crash structure. From an engineering perspective this was far ahead of what was available in mass produced Ferrari’s. The 5.9 Litre V12 powerhouse produced 460 hp with 540 nm of torque, allowing a top speed of 190 mph and 0-60 mph time of 5 seconds flat. The drivetrain consisted of a six speed electrohydraulic manual transmission controlled by paddles on the steering wheel. Stopping not being a problem thanks to the 355 mm drilled and ventilated Brembo discs with four pot calipers and ABS as standard.
The cabin of the V12 Vanquish comes trimmed in luscious leather and alcantara for the headliner to stress the Hand Built nature of the motorcar. it is a very poised grand tourer, suitable for continent cruising, as well as day to day requirements. The noise being its piece de resistance, best described as a ‘roar’. The V12 Vanquish demands respect everywhere it goes and has a road presence that will not be forgotten as it ages gracefully.
We are proud to offer this 2001 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish in Skye Silver over Charcoal Black Leather, delivered new in November of 2001 by Stratstone of Wilmslow to its first owner. By 2003, the motorcar changes hands with 6000 miles to the next custodian, who covers 14,000 miles and sells it to the current custodian with 21,300 miles in 2015. Since acquiring the motorcar, the current custodian, a car collector has covered just over 700 miles in two and a half years.
Important to note, the front subframe has been replaced in 2014 by Aston Martin, as this component is notorious for corrosion on the V12 Vanquish platform and comes at a hefty price.
Now showing 22,000 miles, this motorcar has been very well cared for with a full Aston Martin service history and its last service being only 9 months ago by Heritage Chiltern Aston Centre. It is ready to be enjoyed for the summer and an investment grade motorcar with less than 1500 produced.
