This is a rare matching # 3.8 litre E-Type series 1 coupe.
It is a project that was put on hold due to some life circumstances of the seller’s friend who owned the Jag.
These cars are at the moment highly sought after and difficult to find.
The Jag comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
The original exterior color was Opalescent Golden Sand and the interior was Light Tan. The car was built December 18th, 1962 and dispatched on 1 January 1963.
The car was delivered to via Jaguar Cars of New York to its first owner Mr R.M. Minass. We know nothing of Mr Minass’ tenure with the car other than that over the years it fell into a state of disrepair.
The former owner discovered this project E-Type on a business trip in Missouri. He wandered a local shop and discovered this car languishing in the corner. It had been abandoned at the shop and had not seen any love in many years. He purchased the car from the owner and shipped it directly to his home in Georgia. He retired shortly thereafter and set about bringing this car back.
New floors were installed along with new inner and outer sills. As an added precaution he had the upper and lower bulk head panels replaced along with the toe kick panel. His life recently has taken a turn that he did not anticipate and, in an effort to get his personal affairs in order, he decided to sell his car.
The car comes with new seat frames, new center console, new front and rear Lucas lenses, reconditioned radius arms and several other bits that he had collected. Please see the photo’s for the parts included in the sale.
As can be seen in the pictures, the body still needs more work and the rest of the car needs going through. The engine does not turn but is all there and still assembled. This car is still very much a project but is a very worthy cause. The wiper motor is dated 11 or 12th of 1962 which is the original one. Rear hatch still has the crayon body # on it.
Major missing items are radio console, radiator, front glass, exhaust mufflers and resonators.
We think the early coupes are the most beautiful of all the E-types and they are becoming very hard to find.
So, while this car does need a lot more love and some serious dedication, if you ever wanted a Series I E-type coupe, this car represents a great opportunity.
The car is in our showroom in Soest in the centre of Holland.
