An absolutely stunning example of the what I think is the pinnacle of the production run of the W124 Coupe; produced before standards started to slip with the advent of the 1993 on facelift cars, and all the inherent problems they brought with them (engine wiring looms, more complex engine electrics and random corrosion etc.)
This 300CE started life as a demonstrator vehicle for C.G Whittaker Ltd, Mercedes in Doncaster, used by them to showcase the MY1991 W124 Coupe. As a result, the car was specified with a host of very expensive extras that would have pushed it's price tag over to the £40,000 mark when new. It was subsequently sold to a "lady of considerable means" who owned the car for nineteen years, and who continued with main dealer servicing well into the car's life. In her ownership, and also in subsequent years the vehicle has always been garaged, which is confirmed by the fact that the instrument needles are still bright orange; cars which are kept outside usually have needles that are faded yellow, bleached by the sun. As a result the car is in absolutely immaculate condition, and I very much you'll find many, if any, better.
I've sold this car previously, having first acquired it 2012. In that time its certainly not deteriorated, and the two enthusiast owners it's passed through have built upon the already extensive history. It's spent the last three years in Spain, which has really helped preserve the an already pristine vehicle. Not withstanding that, this a car that has always been garaged, and in the last ten year at least that I know of, has never been used in poor weather. As such the condition of the underside is consummate with a much younger vehicle
Everything works as it should, and needless to say the car drives exactly like it looks putting many modern prestige cars to shame. It's one of the very best C124's I've come across in the time I've been involved with these cars, and is an absolute joy, exuding that legendary W124 solid feel, without a squeak or rattle to disturb the serene ride. It still even has that "new" look and feel to it, which just can't be replicated, once its gone.
One big advantage of this car is it was specified, from new, with the factory (Behr) air-conditioning system, which has recently been overhauled and converted to use the new R134a refrigerant. This is rare on a pre facelift W124, as you'll find most had retro fitted (usually by main dealers) Diavia Air-conditioning systems, which are now difficult to source spares for, and are tricky to work on too.
So, if you're on the lookout for one of these elegant Coupes, I don't think even the most discerning connoisseur be disappointed with this one. Examples like this are getting ever rarer, and this one ticks all the boxes in terms of condition, mileage, specification and colour combination. Everyone who's seen this car instantly comments on just how beautiful it is. Values of the C124 are appreciating rapidly at the moment, and the best examples like this are appreciating the most, and with interest rates as they are, it's probably better than having money in the bank.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business. To read more, see my website at http://www.mtsv.co.uk
