The Last Ferrari 250 GTO to sell on the open market went for $52 million - making it the most expensive car in the world. However, this replica offering is a little more affordable and we are delighted to be able to offer this quite stunning car on behalf of its current owner!
Unlike many replicas of the cars we are very unlikely ever to own this recreation of the GTO is bonded onto the steel shell of the LHD 1978 Datsun 260Z that propels it. This means that it drives and handles as well and just like the car it is based on, with none of the shake, rattle and roll experienced in glass fibre shells bolted onto a donor chassis. So below the beautiful lines of this car is a ever reliable and super driving Datsun 260Z, fitted with a highly uprated Triple Webber-fed straight-six 280Z motor and gated 5-speed manual gearbox. The GTO conversion was partly carried out in California and completed on the cars arrival to the UK in 2008. It comes with a comprehensive photographic record of its quality build on CD and is registered with the DVLA as a 250 GTO Replica.
2014 the car was sent for major improvements to The Z Farm, not far from us in North Yorkshire, the foremost specialist builder of 240Z's in the UK. In their hands this car has benefited from over £9000 of suspension, brake and performance upgrades, the engine being upgraded to around 190 bhp Samurai specification. Copies of the itemised invoices come with it. The detailed engine and immaculate engine bay are a strong indicator as to how good this car is. Further history, MOT certificates, Datsun service booklet and more is contained in a file along with the build CD.
The cabin is a great place to be with recovered seats and diamond stitched transmission tunnel and interior, fully functioning gauges and remote alarm and immobiliser. A custom tuned exhaust has been fitted and whilst we are used to some great sounding V8's in our showroom this has to be one of the best sounds to come from a dual exhaust we have heard in quite some time! Part exchange considered.
