On January 2nd 1961, Wholesale Fruiterers J Gipp Limited in Dagenham Essex, took delivery of a new Ford Consul Deluxe to be proudly driven by Sales Manager Mr J J Hogger. For the next 54 years John Hogger would carefully drive the Consul around Essex and into East London, years after he retired from J Gipp Limited, proudly ensuring the car was serviced on each due date by the supplying Ford Dealer, Dagenham Motors.
In 2015, Mr Hogger became too ill to drive the Consul, it was garaged and laid up at only 50,465 miles. It has recently been re-commissioned and with the mileage still only 51,238, the Consul is an absolute time warp, driving like a new car, pulling strongly and quietly through the gears. The original red leather interior is unmarked. The engine bay is original with a superb patina. At some point during the last 54 years, the bodywork colour was changed from grey to a grey / cream duotone, which sets off the red leather beautifully.
This is a virtually unique and very rare Ford Consul Deluxe in highly original condition, even having the original floor carpets and rubber boot mat (long gone in most other Consul models of this era)
The new MOT runs through to May 7th 2019.
The car can be delivered to the UK ports of Southampton or Portsmouth without cost and unless sold beforehand, will be at Beaulieu over w/e of May 19/20.
