1971 Elan +2S 130/4 - Fully Rebuilt inc. Engine For Sale
This white Lotus Elan turns heads and puts smiles on peoples faces inside and out of the car. It is in very good working order and a joy to drive! I'm selling as sadly, despite spending a lot of money on the car, I don't drive it enough to warrant keeping it.
The car is not concourse but it is perfect for someone looking for a well maintained, upgraded car that does not leak and starts first time, all whilst driving and sounding like a classic sports car should.
The car was fully rebuilt in 2014-2015 - (supporting photographic folder and £5000 of receipts included) after which I bought her and have spent £12000+, mainly with Lotus specialist Allon White.
In 2017 she had a full Engine rebuild, with much new wiring (eg. reading light, clock work and electric windows work), the Philips turnlock stereo was upgraded to a bluetooth, handsfree Tadpole Radio paired with powerful Pioneer speakers plus many other upgrades.
She pulls well through all gears, with no overheating or oil pressure issues. There's not even any sign of oil on the garage floor! HPI clear with no advisories.
Sitting on a gold Spyder chasis (c £2000) with upgraded drive shafts, the engine does not leak and the big aluminium radiator with electric fan (inc. manual overide) keeps the engine at optimum temperature, even on a hot day in standing traffic.
Note to Lotus newbies: the Elan+2 chassis is considered to be the fibreglass body and not the the metal spaceframe, hence these are regularly switched to Spyder chasis which offer better mechanical access and rust proofing.
130 BHP big valve engine with 4 speed gear box and Britax sunroof. The car has had a full off body rebuild with performance modifications. The list of work covers -

The headlights benefit from being driven by electric motors so they open and close quickly and also stay closed, unlike mosy of those with the original vacuum system.
The car had also benefited from a total body respray and 4 years later there are still no spider web cracks as is commonly visible on cars that have not been prepped and painted properly.
In the region of £20k has been spent on the car in recent years.
