The Mercedes-Benz 170 S was a further development of the 170 V model, which appeared in 1949, initially under the model number W 136 IV. The Mercedes-Benz 170 S was 170 mm longer, 104 mm wider and better equipped than the 170 V. The engine had a larger displacement, instead of 1697 cm³ with 38 hp (28 kW) it had 1767 cm³ and an output of 52 hp (38 kW), which allowed a maximum speed of 120 kph. The front suspension was also different: double wishbones with coil springs and no longer double transversal leaf springs as with the 170 V. This model, which was availabl as a saloon, a Cabriolet A and a Cabriolet B, was thus Mercedes-Benz‘s first vehicle model marked „S“; it was often used as a management car. (The term S-Class was not coined until later.) The 170 S was not a first or new development, but a modified 230 (W 153). The 230 was almost identical in design and construction and was built until 1943. The successor model, the 170 VX, was in development as early as1938 and 12 test vehicles were completed in 1941. They had all the characteristics of the later production car.1] A prototype of the later 170 S was presented at the end of 1943, but production stopped due to the war. Vehicle description: The 170S Cabriolet A offered here was built only 830 times. It is a very nice model in ivory-white with red leather trim, smoked glass sun visors and a veryrare original radio (the latter is not fully functional). This vehicle has been restored and is in a very good technical condition! In 2016, the engine was overhauled in a renowned restoration workshop - in addition to a new cylinder head, it also received a new radiator and various other new parts. The result is now a silky smooth engine run, smooth and precise shifting and an incomparably stately driving experience. A very nice restored 170S B-Cabrio. The vehicle was completely frame off rebuilt and driven just a few kilometers in the last years. The enigne is also overhauled and as good as new. It is a real pleasure to take a ride with this historically Mercedes and think back a long time ago. More pics on oldie-point.at
The 1953 Mercedes-Benz 170 V on offer at Classic Park has an unique, Dutch history. The ambulance was donated by the German government to the Dutch Red Cross in 1953 after the North Sea Flood Disaster. Later, the ambulance was deployed by the Dirksland Hospital until 1967. Some years .....

This is a COMPLETELY ORIGINAL 170 v CABRIOLET . The car now is completely dismantled . It was beeing restore and the body is finished except the paint , the wooden parts are also finished . The car is 100% complete with original parts . Now the restoration remaining would be very easy , fast and cheap .....
This is an excellent project ABSOLUTELÑY COMPLETE of a very RARE car and BEAUTIFUL . This is a PRE-WAR , beautiful and complete . It was in running order and was dismantled to be restored but due to some problems with the owner´s health , he decided to sell . The body was already restored and the carpentry .....
