The Charity Classic Vehicle Club, C/O 34 Greygoose Park, Harlow, Essex, CM19 4JN

The prime movers for the formation of the Charity Classic Vehicle Club were originally involved in the organisation of a very successful fund raising event in July 2000. This project was a combined effort between an established classic car club and The Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower. Including the income from the raffle of a 1925 Ford Model T, the event raised over £26,500 for charities.

The success of this event led the main organisers to consider the potential benefits of establishing a classic car club with the prime objective of fund-raising for charities. The conclusion of their research was that with only one other club in existence in the UK with a similar objective, there was room for a new club. Thus on January 1, 2001, the Charity Classic Vehicle Club was born. The main objectives of the club are:

* To attend and organise classic car events to enable money to be raised for National and Local charities
* To arrange tours, lectures, discussions, and social andother meeting
* To afford members such benefits and privileges as it may be able to arrange

The Club is a multi-make car club and aims to provide a series of quality events throughout the year.

As a club we have tried to be innovative in creating fund-raising events. Hi-lights in this area are the club's main annual event, which this year is on the 21st August 2011 at the Village Hall, Navestock Side, near Brentwood and The National Drive It Day on the 24th April 2011. The club also organises 2 very successful Autojumbles each year (please see the Events List). Celebrity dinners have also proved rewarding. Stuart Turner, Tony Mason and Bob Wilson have all supported fund-raising initiatives with great success.

We also support many charities events with car displays and our own tombola stall which has been a great source of funds.

Over Forty charities and voluntary organisations have benefited from our efforts. Local children’s’ charities include Little Haven, Hamelin House, the Burned Children’s Club, ClicSargent, The Kids Kidney Trust and Southend Hospital pediatric unit to name just a few.

Other Essex beneficiaries include Essex Air Ambulance, Essex Search and Rescue, Headway Essex, St Lukes, St Frances & Fair Haven Hospices and Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. Nationally we have donated to Prostate and Breast Cancer Research, The British Heart Foundation and the Starlight Children’s Foundation. It is a privilege to own a classic or thoroughbred car, therefore, have you ever given any thought to using yours as a way of raising funds for charity, while at the same time continuing to enjoy ownership.
