Vintage Motorcycle Club - Northern Ireland Section

Long-time VMCC members Bert Beattie, Jimmy Burns, David Crawford, & David Pattison had a discussion in 2001 and decided the time was right to start a local section.

The inaugural meeting of the VMCC in Northern Ireland took place on the 3rd January 2001 at 8pm in the Ramble Inn, Antrim. The guest speaker over from England was Dave McMahon (Mr Rudge).

Officers and committee members were appointed and many runs organised with the club being well supported by local enthusiasts.

Following a year's probation it was awarded Section status by the VMCC in January 2002.

The Section then moved to a more suitable location in the Enkalon Sports & Social club in Antrim. This new venue was able to hold the large numbers attending on special Guest speaker nights.

The first Antrim Coast Run open to all machines built before 1972 took the high number of entrants along the Coast Road and through the beautiful Glens of Antrim.

Then a few years later the first Mountains of Mourne Rally for Pre-1931 machines took place in that spectacular area.

Both these events still attract entrants from all over the UK, Eire and mainland Europe

The Section organises a total of nine runs throughout the season.

The club was forced to change venue after the demise of the Enkalon Social Club and eventually found the perfect home in St George’s Church Hall, High Street, Belfast where the large secure car park is a great asset. One of the oldest churches in Belfast, although damaged, it survived the Blitz in 1941.

The rector, Rev. Brian Stewart a motorcyclist for most of his life is a great exponent of the Moto Morini, VTwins and Benelli two-strokes.

The membership has stayed steady at over 100 and the meetings are well attended with something interesting each month such as famous visiting speakers, film & slide shows.

Everyone is welcome
