North Norfolk Classic Car Club

84 The st Hindolveston Norfolk NR20 5DF

The North Norfolk Classic Vehicle Club welcomes all classic, unusual,
collectable and interesting vehicle enthusiasts for drive, fun and friendship.

The club begun in January 2007 and the committee have been focused on ensuring we have had a full active club right from day one.
AIMS OF THE CLUB
The aim is to promote the use of old or interesting vehicles of all ages( Cars,Motor Cycles and Commercial) and at the same time to foster friendships with likewise minded people. It is considered vitally important for the good of the movement that when the opportunity occurs we can show our vehicles and entertain visitors at such events thus passing on the word about the many benefits of owning and indeed enjoying an older vehicle.
We want to encourage younger people to join the classic vehicle movement. Often the vehicles we choose to drive may be related to those we saw on the roads in our younger days, it therefore follows that younger people may prefer driving more modern, yet still unusual vehicles. It is surprising how modem cars soon rust away and become scarce, by encouraging younger people to join us we will surely help promote the continuation of the movement in the future.
We suggest that vehicles in the club ought to be over 21 years old, or be interesting or rare newer vehicles. The owner of a brand new Aston Martin DB9 was recently welcomed as a member ! Many shows do have datelines for shows which can often exclude the newer vehicles, though some do recognise the need for various ages of vehicles which gives visitors a better perspective of the vehicles over the years. A benefit of being a club member is that 70's and 80's cars are often allowed to shows as part of our club display when they would not be allowed otherwise.
Our calendar offers a range of events for all members who can pick and choose those they wish to support. although we are in the lap of the gods on some occasions when restrictions are applied. Events organised by our club are open to all members vehicles. If you own a particularly old vehicle which you would prefer not to take on longish drives,or the weather is bad then join us in your modem vehicle.
Click on "Diary" and see what events you would like to join. Give our organiser shown as much time as possible, if bookings are needed then allow time to complete forms. If you complete forms yourself then note our club name on the application and tell our event organiser you have entered individually.
Where possible, we wish to ensure that as a club we can meet up at any such event, rather than be scattered over the field. If demand is sufficient we can organise a stand, this being the reason for keeping us informed of your intentions.
Your committee are quite happy to receive phone calls up till 10.00pm at night. Leave a message if there is no reply or try another committee member. Or better still use e-mail.
At all meetings our club "RED BOOK" will be available, this carries all application forms and entry lists for up coming runs, shows and events, thus you can add your self to any event easily.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT
A successful club can only ever be as good as its membership wishes it to be. Certainly the present committee are totally committed to their work, they see the benefits of seeing our members enjoying themselves.

To be a successful club we must have a wide and interesting choice of events to offer our club membership. That gives us all chance to take something from the club. It is also terribly important that each member puts something back into the club too, there is really little long term benefit in just the committee doing everything, others must shoulder a little work on occasions.
All we ask is that every member contributes in some small way each year. This may be by writing an article for the magazine , perhaps "My first Car" "The car I should have kept" " My worst Car" " How I have come to own my Pride & Joy" the list is endless. It may be stewarding at an event or organising a raffle. Setting a quiz or giving a short talk at one of our meetings. If you think you can add something to the Committee tell us.
SO WHAT DO WE DO
Regular evening meetings are presently held on the third Monday of each month at the Sheringham Golf Club. Please note the dress code is smart casual, so definitely no trainers or jeans. From September to April we will have a range of speakers and slide shows. In the summer we hope to see our cars in the car park and generally enjoy the warmer weather. We will also have short night time car runs of an hour or so and a stop for refreshments, plus little evening visits within the area too.
CAR RUNS
We include in our calendar several of the car runs organised to raise money for charity these are always a good day out. In addition we will have two runs of our own each year.
STATIC SHOWS AND OTHER EVENTS
Through the summer we will visit a variety of events, these will vary from year to year so hopefully when the chance allows you will be able to join us. Some of these shows are local, some perhaps 50 or 60 miles away. As some people prefer to drive their cars rather than "sit in a field all day" the shows a little further away give them a chance to drive and also show our cars and enthuse others with our vehicles. We may arrange group visits to non motoring events such as the "End of The Pier Show"
WEEKENDS AWAY
We will each year have a club weekend away. These will always be good fun, usually we would spend two nights away, though if there is sufficient interest to travel further then we would extend the time to suit. A level of interest has been shown for a long weekend to visit the Nurburgring in the Eiffel Mountains in North West Germany in 2008. A visit to the Classic Car Show at the NEC by coach is being arranged.
SUPPORTING NORTH NORFOLK
By supporting some of the fetes and carnivals in the area we hope to benefit both the promoters and their chosen charities.
THE CLUB MAGAZINE
This at present is printed four times per year.It is in full colour and is issued free to members. Costs are defrayed by a small number of adverts and we would ask all members to support the advertisers whenever possible. If we can get enough articles of interest we will increase the frequency of publication
WALL CALENDAR the club produced a full colour wall calendar for 2011 and another is planned for 2012. This was issued free to members.
THE SMALL PRINT
The Club is a not for profit association of members. A Constitution & Rules were adopted by the membership on 22nd January 2007. The Club has a Child Welfare Officer and a Child Welfare Protocol. The Club purchases General Public Liability Insurance. All members are required to have valid Motor Insurance. The Club is affiliated to the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and the Association of Norfolk Car Clubs
To sum up we are sure you will enjoy membership of our club and we look forward to the pleasure of your company at events in the future.
