The MG Car Club (Lincolnshire
centre) will support National Drive your Classic car Day by organising a
drive-in event to Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre and to the
International Bomber Command Centre at Lincoln on Sunday, April 28^th 2019.

The event is open to all owners of classic cars, especially MGs, will be
most welcome. David Stonehouse, Competition Secretary of the MGCC
Lincolnshire Centre says, “We encourage all classic car owners to
attend. They will be most welcome and can participate in aPride of
Ownership Competition for MGs and non-MG cars with the winners receiving
a prize.

Participants will meet at Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre between
10:30am and 11.00am where they will be provided with a guided tour of
the Dakota. Participants are advised to bring a picnic. The Metheringham
Airfield Visitor Centre, a small museum, supported by the Friends of
Metheringham Airfield is dedicated to those men and women who flew and
supported RAF 106 Bomber Squadron from 1943 until the end of the second
world war. The visitor centre contains an abundance of information and
displays many artefacts that relate to those flyers, aircrew and ground
staff who flew and offered support to the squadron during its presence
in Metheringham.

Participants can then enjoy a short drive to the International Bomber
Command Centre, Lincoln where they can see the majestic sight of the
City of Lincoln below them. The International Bomber Command Centre is
Lincoln’s newest attraction featuring a spectacular spire the size of a
Lancaster Bomber wingspan, atmospheric memorial gardens and an
exhibition featuring oral histories of former Bomber Command personnel.
David Stonehouse from the MGCC Lincolnshire Centre said “The

serve as a point for recognition, remembrance and reconciliation for
Bomber Command. Providing the most comprehensive record of the Command
in the world, the IBCC ensures that generations to come can learn of
