Fantastic Fortnight – Car & Classic Auctions

July has been a busy month for the team here at Car & Classic Auctions, with over £170,000 of stock sold so far this month. Our new auction platform, which offers buyer and seller security thanks to our registration, bidding and Escrow systems, has struck a positive chord with the market. We’ve worked tirelessly to create a new, dynamic and customer-focused auction platform, and the feedback so far is that Car & Classic Auctions is delivering exactly that. Though of course, any auction is only a success if the cars do indeed find new homes after the virtual hammer drops. 1983 Mk1 Golf GTi by GTi Engineering

It’s difficult to be truly unique in the vast and varied world of classic Volkswagens. This 1983 Mk1 GTi is just that though, as it’s not only a five-door, but it’s also been fettled by Volkswagen tuning supremos, GTi Engineering. Built from a brand-new Pirelli Edition Mk1 Golf GTi, this car was then converted to right-hand drive before being fitted with a 2.0, 8-valve engine. The suspension has been upgraded, the brakes and the transmission, too. It’s been filled with leather upholstery inside, while the exterior is dripping with rare Zender accessories. A truly rare and special example of an iconic model. 

1981 Ford Capri 1.6 GL

When it comes to classic Fords, there are few as iconic as the Capri. After all, it was ‘the car you always promised yourself’ if the marketing campaign was anything to go off. This 1981 Capri Mk3 1.6 GL is a wonderful example that is ready to be taken to the shows and enjoyed. An older restoration, this car is perfect for the bidder who wants something they can buy and use without needing to be too precious about it. But this is the beauty of classic Fords – they are cars to be driven. It might not be the most blistering, but the 1.6 Pinto engine is a trusty, easy to maintain power-plant that, with just 77k on the clock, has many years of motoring left. 

1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL ‘Pagoda’

When it comes to classy, elegant, frankly drop-dead gorgeous classics, little can beat the Mercedes-Benz SL ‘Pagoda’. Certainly, the car here, an exceptionally rare 250SL ‘California’ has seen a frenzy of bidding, as people rush to get behind the wheel. Lovingly restored, and supplied with the ‘Pagoda’ hard top, this timeless roadster is a wonderful example. It’s been subject to a complete, engine out, mechanical overhaul and thus, is in rude health. The chrome twinkles, the paint shines and the contrasting black interior is in excellent order.
