Live the Luxury Dream – Bentley & Rolls Royce

Who doesn’t like a little bit of posh from time to time? We’ve all gone out for a fancy meal, bought an item of clothing that we could have got for a fraction of the price from George at ASDA. We’ve ordered that bottle of champers on a night out, and we’ve bought that nice watch even though a Casio would do just fine. And that’s okay. It’s natural to want to treat ourselves, and this of course bleeds through into the world of cars. We all like a luxury motor, right?

When it comes to choosing a luxury car, there are many. However, there are two brands that sit atop the others like kings. Fitting, really, as they both go hand in hand with royalty the world over. We are of course talking about Bentley and Rolls Royce. If you want the best, these two brands offer it.

Walk into a dealership, though, and you’ll have to re-mortgage your house or consider selling a child. Don’t do that. Buy a used one. Something with a bit of history, or with classic lines. Good taste and luxury never go out of fashion, so what does a few miles on the clock matter? We have a bountiful selection of Bentleys and Rollers available at the moment over on our auction platform. And there is something for everyone, too. So, prime that bidding finger, because you’re about to be tempted, very, very tempted…

The One That’s A Project…

Maybe you don’t mind getting down and dirty with the spanners, the screwdrivers and the paint. Maybe you’re after a Bentley that you can make your own, one that you can build back up to be the car of your dreams. What you need, then, is this 1987 Bentley Mulsanne. It’s a bit down at heel, but it’s a great basis for a restoration.

From the listing:

There are two ways to look at this car. The first is as a restoration project and in that regard it’s a good one. The provenance is there, the body is largely solid if a bit frilly round the edges and the leather seats are in decent order. As a starting point, it’s a good one.”

The One That’s A Bargain GT…

The Bentley Continental GT was, along with the Flying Spur of the same era, the car that defined Bentley as we see it today. A hugely comfortable, fast, refined GT coupe, the Continental is the kind of car you will fall in love with. Outstanding build quality, more toys than Hamley’s and all without a reserve. This could be your bargain way into Bentley ownership.

From the listing:

“An example such as this one, which has been properly looked after, not messed about with and clearly well-loved is about as good as you can get if you’re in the market for a first-generation Continental GT and – given the car’s significance to one of the world’s oldest and most treasured car brands – it has the potential to be a sensible investment for the future as well.”

The One That’s Fast…

Is the 6.0 W12 Continental mentioned above not fast enough for you? Do you need something with so much grunt it could tow-start an ocean liner? What you need, then, is this incredibly rare and outrageously powerful Bentley Continental GTC Supersports. It packs the same 6.0 W12 as the earlier car, but has been wound up to 621bhp. That… that’s a lot of power.

From the listing:

The drivetrain, the power, the equipment, the trimming, it’s all thoroughly pleasant and oozes effortless class. Of course, there are many different variants of Continental GT, and if you’re planning to take the plunge then you might as well do it properly.”

The One That’s Rare…

So you want to stand out, you want a bit of exclusivity? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Which is why this beautiful 1982 Bentley Corniche is the car for you. Only seventy-seven are thought to have been made. This one has been cherished over the course of its life, and has a mere 36,000 miles on the clock. If you want a Bentley with oodles of exclusivity, this is the one.

From the listing:

“The Bentley we present to you here today isn’t merely a vehicle, it’s a statement. It’s everything that is good about the seemingly almost entirely forgotten British coachbuilding industry. When it was new, a vehicle only the most wealthy could afford, and the rest of us would at best get to see drive past and admire at a distance.”

The Last One Built…

Finally, something really special. A 1998 Rolls Royce Silver Spur. The very last of this generation Silver Spur to be built, in fact. As verified by a letter from Rolls Royce that comes with the car. Not only that, this once £150,000 car is laden with rare spec options like black leather, rear drinks chiller, TVs and of course, acres of high-quality wood. Regal, classy and everything a Rolls Royce should be.

From the listing:

Famous previous owner, the last of its kind, impressive care and attention over the years and current day presentation that can still, twenty-three years on, turn heads. What’s not to like? This car, let us not forget, cost its original owner some £150,000. This is your opportunity to get it for a fraction of that.”
